I start with my hand dyed Shibori fabric and add custom colors of dye to create the soft, subtle background.  Freehand quilting along with ruler work quilting create texture and interest. 

 

I started this piece in Paducah KY at Artist in Residency with Diana and Donalee.  Black & white shibori fabric was pieced, there and flat dyed later at home.  After quilting, Paintstiks were added on the large circles.
