MINT JULEP
39"w X 37"h
2012
I wanted to create an original piece to showcase my love of fine machine appliqué and freehand quilting.
MINT JULIP features all turned edge, machine appliqué. Built-in machine decorative stitches were then used to highlight portions of the appliqués. I created feather designs to fit the open areas and added lots of freehand quilting lines. A piped and curved edge was created to further enhance the design. Lastly, beads wee added by hand. The fabrics are some of my earliest hand dyed gradations.
