BLAZING BEAUTY
53" x 53"
2008
I made Blazing Beauty as part of a “Roosting Robin” project with my small guild; STASH. The center block could be anything of your choosing - I left mine blank as I wanted to add trapunto and detailed freehand quilting. Each month a new border was introduced, such as triangles, setting a design on point, using squares and rectangles. We each produced our own original quilts over 10 months. I used marbled fabrics rather than prints to showcase my machine quilting. The floral appliques are machine stitched with the buttonhole stitch and variegated thread. Traditional piecing, paper-piecing, mini-piping and trapunto all add to the excitement of this design.
