Welcome to Schillig Scribbles!

Winter/Early Spring 2012

Lots of exciting things are going on this year! First of all, my piece MINT JULEP has been accepted into the American Quilt Society Show in Lancaster, PA in mid-March. I'll be heading out to see the show and also visit some of the exhibits in FIBER PHILADELPHIA.

I have become active in SAQA (Studio Art Quilt Associates). It is a national group of art quilt enthusiasts who get together frequently to share ideas. Our first statewide show; CREATIVE STATEMENTS; Ohio Art Quilts 2012 will be on display at the beautiful Zanesville Art Museum from April 21 thru July 6th. There will be an Opening Reception on Sat April 21. We are very excited they chose us for this exhibit. My piece Sunset Serenade will be on display along with quilts from 30 other artists, all from Ohio. I have been asked to teach a few Freehand Machine Quilting classes at the museum as well. See the schedule page for more details.

QUILT ESCAPE has been an annual retreat for the past 18 years, and this year they asked me to be an instructor. You can immerse yourself for an entire weekend in learning freehand quilting while creating a fabulous reference notebook. I think it will be loads of fun! It is held at Deer Creek State Park, so long nature walks will help us all relax and enjoy the fall season. Nov 9-11.

April marks the second year the International Quilt Association is hosting their Spring Festival in Cincinnati, Ohio. I'll be there helping with the SAQA and APQS booths, so stop by and say hello, or look for me roaming around the show floor. April 13-15
