This is such an exciting time in my life! 2014 is chock full of adventures. I'll be travelling around the country to many of the American Quilt Society (AQS) and International Quilt Association (IQA) shows. I will be in the American Professional Quilting Systems (APQS) booth selling my favorite quilting machine; GEORGE. See photo at right. I love sharing my enthusiasm for George and it is always a thrill to meet new quilters as well as see my own work hanging in many of these shows. You can check my schedule to see if I’ll be at a show near you.
Expanding my horizons by taking workshops with national instructors is always a favorite thing to do. This year I will be digging deeper into the dyeing world with Carol Soderlund. And I will also be increasing my artistic awareness by studying with Hollis Chatelain. I so admire the work of both of these creative artists and can’t wait to learn more under their tutelage.
Interspersed will be time spent with Studio Art Quilt Associates (SAQA) meetings as I am the Ohio Co-Rep. Our annual conference is in DC this year and will certainly be enlightening. We have numerous meetings around Ohio throughout the year. I love connecting with other SAQA members for ideas & inspiration. And the friendships I have formed through this group have been invaluable.
MACHINE QUILTING UNLIMITED is my favorite quilting magazine and I was honored to be asked to write an article on how I made my "JEEPERS…..It’s Jane!" quilt. The 6 page article was published in the Nov/Dec 2013 issue. I also have an article on QUILT BACKS in the March/April 2014 issue of the magazine. You can order back issues from Meander Publishing or contact me for availability.
All this does not leave much time for creating new artwork! But, I will certainly give it my best try! Hope to see you at a show somewhere down the line and keep quilting! --Beth
